Ingredients
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- Salt and pepper
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional topping)

Cook Pasta
Boil macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Make Cheese Sauce
In a large pot, melt butter. Whisk in flour and cook 1 minute. Slowly add milk, whisking constantly. Bring to a simmer until thickened.

Add Cheese
Remove from heat. Stir in cheddar, mozzarella, mustard powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Mix in cooked pasta.

Optional Bake
For baked version: Pour into dish, top with breadcrumbs, bake at 350°F for 20 minutes until golden.
